We’ve completely reimagined the record_memory function. Instead of simply saving transcribed speech, we now build rich, metadata-enhanced entries that tell the full story:

  • Topic Extraction: Using semantic embeddings and zero-shot LLM classification, we tag memories with meaningful life themes—travel, family, career, and more.
  • Sentiment & Emotion: With models like RoBERTa and custom GPT prompts, we capture the emotional tone of each memory, from joy to nostalgia.
  • Speaker Recognition: Whether it’s the subject or a family member contributing, we tag memories with the speaker's identity, preserving voice and perspective.
  • Time & Place: NLP tools parse references to dates and locations, while geotags and device timestamps ground each memory in the real world.
  • Duration Estimation: Was it a fleeting moment or a formative journey? We use language clues and AI inference to estimate event length and relevance.

The result? A searchable, story-ready memory graph that feels as dynamic and layered as the human mind.

Mem0: Smarter Storage, Minimal Effort

At the heart of this architecture is Mem0’s memory pipeline—a two-phase system that brings speed, context, and intelligence to long-term AI memory:

  1. Extraction Phase: Mem0 ingests conversational context across multiple timelines—recent interactions, rolling summaries, and key message history—to detect meaningful memory candidates.
  2. Update Phase: Using vector similarity, Mem0 decides whether to add, update, ignore, or delete each entry, ensuring our memory database stays lean, coherent, and accurate.

  • How do we keep things fast? Background threads and Mem0’s asynchronous updates ensure zero lag.
  • How do we handle multiple speakers and overlapping memories? Speaker ID and metadata help us stitch together multi-voice narratives with elegance.
